The Philadelphia Tornados picked up their second win Thursday night as they took a 54-24 victory over Nania Waiya in prep football action.

More importantly, it was the Tornado’s first region 5-2A game of the season, making Philadelphia 1-0 in the region standing. The Tornados have an important region game this Friday night when they visit Lake Hornets.

“Lake has already beaten Newton and Kemper County,” said Coach David Frey. “We really need to win this one if we want to stay in the hunt for the region championship.”

Philadelphia led 21-14 and then exploded with 33 more points. Quarterback, D. Burnside, finished the night completing 3-of-4 pass attempts for 119 yards and 2 touchdowns. HE also rushed 3 times for 104 yards and 1 touchdown. Chancellor Greer had 58 yards rushing with 5 carries and 1 receiving touchdown for 30 yards. Austin Donald had 7 carries for 49 yards and 2 touchdowns. C. J. Rush had 11 carries for 77 yards and 1 touchdown. K. J. Seales had 1 rush for a 3 yard touchdown run. Gamari Hickman had 1 rush for an 11 yard touchdown run.
