Services were on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Pine Grove Baptist Church in House, MS, with Bro. Lin Chesney and Brother Rusty Walton officiating.  McClain-Hays Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Thomas “Tom” Allen Winstead, 85, of Union, MS, went to be with the Lord on January 6, 2023.

Tom was born on October 17, 1937, in House, MS. After graduating from House High School in 1955, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving 26 years across the U.S., Germany, Japan, and Thailand. While stationed in Japan he met and married Lily Yuriko Nakamura in 1958. In 1982 he retired from the Air Force, having attained the rank of Master Sergeant, and returned home to Mississippi. He loved to travel, fish, bowl, read, and thoroughly enjoyed games of dominoes, cribbage and cards (just not losing at them!).

Survivors include his daughters, Lynn Winstead Dry and husband James of Loxley, AL, and Wanda Winstead Doss and husband Alan of Katy, TX; grandsons, Tommy Agnew, Joshua Blair, Cody Dry and Dylan Dry; granddaughter, Jessica Agnew Hurlbert, and 12 great grandchildren; sisters, Ann Walker of McKinney, TX, and Beth Howington of Little Rock, MS. He is also survived by numerous extended family members, whom he greatly loved.

Tom was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Lily Yuriko Winstead; parents, Leslie Winstead and Essie Winstead; brothers, LL Winstead, Bert Winstead, Murray Winstead, and Max Winstead; sisters, Edna Parker, Lora Belle Tingle, Wilma Adcock, and Dot Langdon.

Pallbearers were Tommy Agnew, Joshua Blair, Ben Hurlbert, Stacy Howington, Aaron Morris, and WT Smith.
