A Carthage teenager was arrested for driving under the influence after a crash that sent his passenger to the hospital.

The man, Leslie Buchanan Henderson IV, 18, 225 Battle Bluff Road, Carthage, was arrested and charged with DUI and leaving the scene of an accident, according to Neshoba County Sheriff Eric Clark.

Deputies first responded to a wreck on Road 367 near the intersection of Road 2414 at about 10 p.m. on Friday, March 18.

Clark said deputies found a red 2004 Chevrolet Silverado that had flipped and a juvenile male passenger who had been ejected from the vehicle. Clark said the victim was unconscious and bleeding and suffered from back and head injuries.

Clark said investigators believe the truck flipped when the driver hit a curve going too fast.

The passenger was transported to Neshoba General and later to UMMC in Jackson.

Further investigation identified Henderson as the driver of the truck. He was later arrested on the drunk driving charges on March 22.

Clark said Henderson had left the scene to go to his girlfriend’s house who lives nearby.
