Suzanne Wells finishes with UM Jazz Ensemble

Congratulations to Courtney Suzanne Wells, who played her last performance with the famous Mississippians Jazz Ensemble on April 15, one of the oldest collegiate jazz ensembles in the nation dating back to the 1890s.

Mom Susie Wells, grandmother Vivian Wells, aunt Lynette Kilpatrick, aunt Windee Sanders and cousins Sadee Sanders, Jessica Walker and Destiny Lofton all made the trip to Oxford to watch and hear the amazing performance during which she played three different instruments.

Courtney has been appointed by the University of Mississippi music department faculty as the Most Outstanding Graduate Instrumentalist of the year and was recognized during the Music Honor's Convocation on April 21 followed by her stellar performance of the first movement of Sonata in C- Sharp Minor by Fernande Decruck.

Courtney played in her final performance with the Ole Miss Wind Ensemble at the Gertrude Castellow Ford Center for Performing Arts on April 23, 2021.

Courtney also will celebrate the performance of her capstone master's degree saxophone recital on April 28, 2021, with a wonderful program that features composers Stacy Garrop, John Williams, John Anthony Lennon, and Jacob Ter Veldhuis.

She will conclude the program with a performance with her fellow members of the UM Reed Quintet. Courtney received her bachelor’s degree from Ole Miss in 2019 in Music Education as a Magna Cum Laude graduate.

She graduated on April 30 with a master’s degree in music performance. We are so proud of all her hard work and accomplishments and are excited to see where life takes her.
