Supervisors reappoint Morrow as attorney

B.J. Morrow was reappointed as the staff attorney for the Sixth Chancery Court District Monday by the Neshoba County Board of Supervisors.

Morrow’s reappointment was effective Nov. 1 and his annual salary was set at $81,020.         

In other matters, supervisors voted to:

• Accept the meal log report from the jail;

• Approve for a road bore by the Central Water Association along County Road 610;

• Approve a request from the Neshoba County Schools for three loads of sand;

• Approve a three-year subscription renewal request from Emergency Management for Baron ThreatNet Weather Radar. 

• Supervisors also continued their State of Emergency for the COVID-19 pandemic;

• Approve a request of $250 for the participants in the Extension Service to attend the Southwest District Livestock Show in Jackson in January;

• Approve invoices to the East Central Planning and Development District for the CDBG Invoices project as follows: Invoice # 1 – $5,000; Invoice # 2 — $5,000; and Invoice # 3 — $13,477;

• Approve the county employee payroll ending Nov. 2, and totaling $167,358.95;

• Approve the elected officials payroll ending Nov. 15 totaling $43,180.47;

• Approve the minutes from the past meeting, the out of order claims and the claims docket;

• Approve the lease purchase with BancorpSouth for a new garbage truck;

• Approve a request for slag, gravel and a culvert repair at Neshoba Lake;

• Approve a petition to designate Real Property as Branning Family Cemetery;

• Approve an update to the Non-Discrimination Policy for Submittal with Title VI Annual Assessment Report to the Mississippi Department of Transportation;

• Approve removal of several defective or obsolete items from the inventory from various county offices; and,

• Consider means to appoint a county prosecuting attorney to fill a vacant position.
