Supervisors consider closing part of CR 1137

The Neshoba County Board of Supervisors has accepted a recommendation to close a portion of Road 1137 in the western part of the county near Hope.

The Road Committee made its report during last Monday’s board meeting. Supervisors will advertise their intent to close the road seeking public input, and then take the final vote.

In other matters, supervisors voted to:

• Accept a Technology Grant from Inmate Communications Provider for $15,000. It will be used for special response team equipment at the Sheriff’s Department;

• Approve the hiring of Logan Bateman as a correctional officer. Supervisors also approved the termination of another correctional officer;

• Approve paying expenses and registration for the Sheriff’s Summer Conference June 5-9 at the Golden Nugget in Biloxi;

• Approve a Memorandum of Understanding with Kemper County for the maintenance roads on the county line;

• Approve paying J.C. Cheek Contractors invoices for cold milling totaling $70,864;

• Approve paying a Crowder Engineering invoice for cold milling totaling $7,086;

• Approve paying registration for Collector of Revenue continuing education for Mike Lewis, Annie Peebles, Lakesha Jones and Kay Dearing in the Tax Collector’s office at $30 each;

• Approve paying dues to the Mississippi Justice Court Clerks Association totaling $250;

• Approve paying for registration and expenses for emergency management employees to attend training conferences. Supervisors also approved for Darrell Wilson to attend the statewide fire coordinator meeting at the State Fire Academy on May 9;

• Give Neshoba County Ambulance Enterprise approval to dispose of a 2014 Chevrolet Type II Ambulance via auction;

• Give a pay raise of $.50 per hour to a Neshoba Coliseum employee;

• Approve paying a Matt Boatner Construction invoice totaling $18,000 for work on the Burnside project;

• Approve paying a Perry Construction invoice totaling $187,245 for Neshoba Hospital CDBG construction project; and,

• Approve paying East Central Planning and Development District invoices for Taylor Mast Project – DIP Grant - $5,000, and the Neshoba General - CDBG Public Facility Project - $9,000.
