State basketball playoffs pick up after storm

The state high school basketball playoffs pick up today after last week’s winter storm brought play to a halt.

The following are first-round games in the Mississippi High School Activities Association basketball. The second-round games will be played on Wednesday while the third-round games will be played.

The Philadelphia Lady Tornadoes will host Wesson at 5 p.m. today. The Philadelphia boys will visit Lloyd Star on Tuesday.

The Neshoba Central girls will host Grenada today at 5 p.m.

The Choctaw Central girls will host Ripley at 6 p.m.

There will be a double-header at Union tonight. The Union girls will host Bogue Chitto at 5:30 p.m. with the Union boys playing Wesson afterward around 7:30 p.m.

Both Leake Academy teams will open in the Mid-South Independent Schools Association’s Class 4A state tournament on Tuesday. The tournament is being held at Hillcrest Christian School in Jackson. The girls play Simpson at 3 p.m. while the boys play Simpson at 5 p.m.
