'Star Wars' Movie Night at Rocket Field postponed to May 10
Due to inclement weather, the movie night at Rocket Field originally scheduled for tonight has been postponed to next Saturday, May 10, at 7 p.m.
Hosted by Neshoba Central High School’s Rocket Media, the event will feature a screening of “Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace” at Rocket Field.
Rocket Media launched its “Movie Night” series this school year as a fundraiser for the school’s Digital Media 1 and 2 programs. In the fall, the group screened “Hocus Pocus” and “The Grinch.”
“Sometimes it is hard for families to keep little ones quiet and still to watch a movie in a theater—with Rocket Field, there are no bad seats and plenty of room for the children to run around,” said Digital Media Teacher Shannon Broom.
Broom said that the viewing experience is high quality, even for classic films. “The screen is top notch and visually produces awesome quality for even older movies like ‘Hocus Pocus.’”
Next year, she and her students are looking to add a movie night in August and continue with one in October, November, and of course May, as they plan to continue the Star Wars series each year.
Food is also a draw for attendees. “We have had a few different food vendors at each movie night, Sammy’s, Indian Tacos, and Point Blank Grill,” Broom said.
Sammy’s food truck will be on site for this showing. Admission is $5 cash at the gate, and most food vendors accept both cash and card.
