“The Gospel Through Recovery,” an event hosted by The River, a nonprofit Christian recovery organization, will be taking place on Friday, Oct. 23 and Saturday, Oct. 24 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., each evening.

“It will take place at the gazebo in DeWeese Park, and it will be as intimate as possible while following COVID-19 guidelines,” said Barry Walker, executive director of The River.

Both nights will feature speakers who will talk openly about their experiences with addiction and how they were cleansed, and hope their story reaches other people who may struggle with addiction and encourage them to seek help.

Speakers on Friday include Krisha Agent, Jeff Shepherd, Allen Davis, Bubba Phillips, Brandon King, George T. Sciple, and Stacey Smith. Saturday’s speakers include Frankie Lacey, Chris Luebbers, Eddie Nowell, Kim Like, Eric Ellingburg, Brian Henry, Brian and Catherine hicks, and David Fillmore.

The event is free and open to everyone.
