Smith, Ramirez receive Yates scholarships

Two Neshoba Central seniors have received Yates scholarships.

Emma Smith has been awarded a $4,000 Yates Companies, Inc. Scholarship for the first two years of college. A scholarship committee at The Yates Companies, Inc. based upon academics, extracurricular activities, and two short essays selected Emma. 

Carolyn Voyles, Chairperson of The Yates Companies, Inc. Scholarship Committee said, “We set up the scholarship program to recognize and reward high schools seniors of our employees who meet certain criteria and wish to further education at the post-secondary level. This allows us to be a part of preparing young people for the future.

Emma will graduate from Neshoba Central High School this spring and plans to major in Veterinary Medicine. Emma is the daughter of Scooter and Christy Smith. Scooter works for Yates Building Supply, while Christy works for W.G. Yates & Sons Construction Company, both of which are part of the Yates Companies, Inc. 

Jessica Ramirez has been awarded a $4,000 Yates Companies, Inc. Scholarship for the first two years of college. A scholarship committee at the Yates Companies, Inc. based on academics, extracurricular activities, and two short essays selected Jessica.
