Silliman ends impressive softball season for 25-4 Lady Rebels

The Leake Academy Lady Rebels saw their season come to an end on Monday in the Class 5A State Tournament.

Leake opened the tournament on Saturday with a 7-0 win over Natchez Cathedral before losing 6-5 to Brookhaven.

The Lady Rebels then battled through the loser’s bracket and beat Simpson 17-9 on Saturday and Copiah 5-4 on Monday. The Lady Rebels then fell 5-0 to Silliman to see their season come to an end. 

Leake Academy finishes the season with a 25-4 record and finished third in Class 5A. They also finished as Class 5A North State champions and District 2-5A champions.

The Lady Rebels struggled at the plate and saw their season come to an end on Monday in a shutout loss.

Silliman scored single runs in the third and fourth and pulled away with three in the sixth.

Leake only had three hits, led by Jenna Chamblee who was 2-for-3 while Miley Billie also singled.

Lynleigh Burt pitched 5 1/3 innings and gave up five runs on six hits and two walks. Raylea Atkinson pitched the last 2/3 of an inning.

The Lady Rebels banged out 13 hits and took a one-run win over the Lady Colonels on Monday in an elimination game.

Leake had 13 hits in the contest, led by Lily McDonald who was 3-for-4. Miley Billie and Jenna Chamblee were each 2-for-4 while Raylea Atkinson was 2-for-3. Emeri Warren also singled and drove in two runs.

Lynleigh Burt pitched all seven innings and gave up four runs on nine hits and struck out three.
