Shuqualak man arrested for drugs after motel disturbance

A Shuqualak man was arrested on drug charges after police investigated a disturbance reported at a local motel last week, the authorities said.

The man, Clifton Shumaker, 36, 6688 Tine Street, Shuqualak, was arrested and charged with possession of paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance, according to Philadelphia Police Chief Eric Lyons.

He said officers responded to a report of a disturbance at the Western Motel on Holland Avenue on April 14 at about 9:15 a.m.

Officers then made contact with the male subject alone inside the room and observed a clear plastic bag on the table that was later determined to be methamphetamine. Lyons said officers identified the subject as Shumaker and arrested him.
