Authorities are seeking leads in the theft of timber harvesting equipment in the Neshoba community last week.

Neshoba County Sheriff Eric Clark said they have no leads in the Thursday theft.

The incident was reported at a timber harvesting site off of Road 329 around 7 a.m. on Nov. 10. Clark said the call came in as the crew arrived for the day when they discovered their tool trailer had been broken into.

Tools were taken including a chainsaw valued at $1,000 and a poll saw valued between $700 and $800.

“Conservative estimates put the value of the tools taken easily around a couple thousand dollars,” Clark said.

Newton County authorities reported a similar incident the week before, Clark said. Clark said that incident happened between Union and Decatur in the Stratton community. Clark said due to the close proximity of the two locations the crimes may be related.

Anyone with information on this or any other potential crime is encouraged to call CrimeStoppers at 1-855-485-8477.

“I would encourage anyone with information related to this incident to call CrimeStoppers or the Sheriff’s Office,” Clark said.
