On his way to a funeral Sunday afternoon, Sheriff Eric Clark made a felony drug arrest in the Good Hope community.

Joshua Andrews, 29, 721 Majure Road, Walnut Grove, was arrested and charged with no tag, driving under a suspended license, misdemeanor marijuana possession, possession of a felony amount of meth and several pieces of paraphernalia.

Jail records also show that Andrews is being held on a hold for an investigation.

Clark said that in the early afternoon Sunday, Feb. 28 he was headed to a funeral and got the call regarding a suspicious vehicle in the area.

“I got the call just as I was leaving my house and figured I could kill two birds with one stone while I was out,” Clark said.

He located the vehicle near the intersection of Mississippi 15 and Road 2426 in the Good Hope community.

He said he immediately made a traffic stop, resulting in the arrest of Andrews.

“This issue is something our guys do every day,” Clark said.

Clark said that they have witnessed a recent uptick in criminal arrests.

“I don’t know if it is the first of the month or the full moon or what, but things have been kind of crazy as of late,” Clark said. “Maybe people feel they have some catching up to do after they were snowed in a few weeks back.”

Clark said that anyone who has information that could lead to an arrest is encouraged to call the Neshoba County Sheriff's Department at 601-656-1414 or Crime Stoppers at 601-355-TIPS (8477).
