Sheriff hires two new deputies to patrol roads

Neshoba County Sheriff Eric Clark added two deputies to his staff during Monday’s meeting of the Board of supervisors.

Supervisors approved the hiring of Hunter Ramsey and Julian Willis to serve as road deputies. They will start on the night shift.

“They are welcomed to our team,” Sheriff Clark said. “I am still recruiting a school resource officer and then I should be in very good shape. I am pretty close to full staff.”

In other matters, supervisors voted to:

• Approve a pay increase recommendation for Kenny Spencer;

• Accept a $10,000 emergency supplement grant for dealing with the COVID-19 for the Sheriff’s Department. Supervisors also approved an inventory removal of a laptop computer;

• Approve the employment of Jasper Savell for the jail;

• Accept the Fire Marshal’s Inspection Report of the Jail. Supervisors also voted to approve $500 for an inspection by the health department of the jail;

• Approve a road crossing boring by Central Water Association at 10390 Road 381;

• Approve two 16th Section leases for the Neshoba County School District. Supervisors accepted and adopted the school bus turn around list the 2020-2021 school year;

• Approve Emergency Management’s request for full-time employment for Brittany Lanee Talbert, Melinda Riddle, Jammie Ann Hamilton and Heather Dawn Talbert.

Supervisors also approved a MS County Emergency Relief Program Agreement. They also approved a travel request for officials to attend a district fire coordinator meeting on October 23 at Lake Tiak-O’Khata.

• Approve the county employee payroll ending Oct. 5 and totaling $162,662;

• Approve the elected employee payroll ending October 15 and totaling $43,143;

• Approve the minutes to the previous meeting, the claims docket, the out of claims docket

• Approve the annual dues totaling $1,800 for the Mississippi Association of Supervisors; and

• Approve the adoption of the final amended budget for Fiscal Year 2020.
