Graveside services for Sheila Rivera will be held at 9:00 A.M. on September 25, 2020 at Holy Rosary Indian Mission.  No visitation.  

Mrs. Rivera, 47, passed away on April 19, 2020 in Chicago, IL.  She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Vivian Tubby and her uncles, Melvin Tubby, Jerry Tubby, and Mike White.

Survivors include her husband, Noland Rivera; son, Isaiah Rivera; step-children: Anthony, Allie, Megan, and Noland Jr.; mother, Rita Mattera; father, Fred Mattera; brother, Sonny Mattera; sister, Angelina Mattera; aunts, Gloria White, Bernita Reynolds, Brenda Stephens, uncles, Bobby Tubby, Jerry Reynolds; close cousins Michelle and Sherri.

Sheila believed in education and graduated with bachelors and masters degrees in social work and a masters certificate in pastoral counseling.  She was an ordained minister.  Mrs. Rivera completed the Federal Law Enforcement Training Program in Artesia, New Mexico and became a Choctaw Police Department police officer.  “Possum”  Sheila overcame many obstacles and achieved every goal she set for herself; however, being Isaiah’s mom was her greatest blessing from God.  Sheila always intended to retire from the Cook County Sheriff’s Office and work in security at Walt Disney World, the happiest place in the world.

Pallbearers are Isaiah Rivera and Sonny Mattera.
