Sebastopol stops Tornadoes


The Philadelphia Tornadoes had no answers in how to stop Sebastopol in the second half as they lost a 34-25 decision to the Bobcats Friday night in prep football action.

This was a Region 4-2A game. The Tornadoes drop to 2-5 overall and 1-1 in the region standings. . They travel to Kemper County this Friday night. The Wildcats come in at 5-2 following last week’s 48-46 win over Noxubee Count.

Philadelphia took the opening kickoff and drove for the first score. Bernard Parker connected with Dee Burnside on a 14-yard TD pass play. Bryson Boler kicked the extra point and the Tornadoes led 7-0.

Later in the quarter, the Tornadoes hurt themselves with penalties and Sebastopol scored on a pass play. The kick was good and the game was tied at 7-7 with a minute left in the first quarter.

Philadelphia retook the lead in the second quarter when Imarion Black scored on a 4-yard run. The extra point try failed and the Tornadoes led 13-7 with 7:24 left in the first half.

Sebastopol would score on an 18-yard TD pass. The kick was good and the Bobcats led 14-13.

Philadelphia came back to retake the lead when C.J. Rush scored on a 16-yard run. The extra point try was no good and the Tornadoes led 19-14.

Sebastopol took the ensuing kickoff and drove 58 yards to score on a 1-yard run with 29 seconds left in the half. The extra point kick was good and the Bobcats led 21-19 at the half.

The Bobcats took the second half kickoff and drove 67 yards, scoring on 15-yard run. The kick was good and Sebastopol led 28-19.

The wheels came off for Tornadoes. Following a 9-yard loss on a quarterback sack, the Tornadoes were intercepted. Sebastopol scored on a 15-yard run and the Bobcats went up 34-19.

Dee Burnside brought the Tornadoes back with a TD pass to Keatham Graham. The try for two failed and Sebastopol led 34-25 with 1:03 left in the third quarter. Neither team scored in the fourth quarter.
