Voters in eight precincts will return to the polls Tuesday for the School Board District 2 runoff race.

With no candidate receiving more than 50 percent of the vote in the School Board District 2 race, candidates Mary Ann Nicholson and Jermaine Simmons will face off in a runoff election scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 29.

Just over 1,000 votes were cast in that race during the Nov. 8 election.

Nicholson received the most votes with 484 total votes capturing 47.31 percent of the 1,023 votes cast in that race. Simmons received the second most at 209 representing 20.43 percent.

The other two candidates in the School Board District 2 race were Amanda L. Carter, who came in last with 142 votes at 13.88 percent, and Matthew R. Marshall who had 188 votes capturing 18.38 percent of votes cast.

Absentee ballots for the School Board District 2 runoff are available now in the Circuit Clerk's Office at the Courthouse.

Only voters of School Board District 2 in the following precincts will vote in the runoff election: Center; Forestdale; North Bend; Northeast Philadelphia; Southeast Philadelphia; Burnside; East Neshoba; and Northwest Philadelphia.
