Some roof damage was reported to structures in the northeastern part of the county Monday during a bout of severe weather, but no injuries were reported.

Emergency Management Director Darrell Wilson said that they received no 911 reports of damage.

He said that his office did receive reports of damage through non-emergency lines Monday evening to some chicken houses on Road 759 near Bogue Chitto and that a tree fell on the front porch of a mobile home on the same road.

Willson said that the county was not under a warning when the storms hit.

“It is just that time of year where a thunderstorm can pop up and it can be severe,” Wilson said. “At the time we were not under a storm warning.”

Wilson said that most of the severe weather happened in the North Bend and Bond communities.

Heavy rainfall was reported at the Neshoba County Fairgrounds.  Longtime fairgoer Bill Lee said it was the hardest rain he's seen at the Fairgrounds.

Pam Stokes Irons described what happened when a tree fell on their home in the Bond community. "I was in the office when it hit!!" she said. "My son was in the house scared him pretty good."
