Local baseball and softball teams are ramping up district play and put together some impressive performances over the last week.

Neshoba Central baseball picked up a 5-3 win over Newton County on Saturday, moving to 10-5 on the season. The Rockets will open up region play with matchups against Warren Central on Tuesday and Friday, and will round out the week with a home game against Southeast Lauderdale on Saturday.

Neshoba Central softball fell 7-6 to Pisgah last week, dropping to 9-5 on the season. The Lady Rockets are scheduled to play West Lauderdale on Tuesday and Friday and will also play Petal on Friday.

Choctaw Central baseball fell 3-0 to West Lauderdale and 6-0 to Kosciusko last week, dropping to 1-12 on the season. The Warriors are scheduled for a region series with Union on Tuesday and Friday and will take on Louisville at home on Saturday.

Choctaw Central softball lost 7-1 and 7-4 to West Lauderdale and beat Kosciusko 8-4 to improve to 9-6 on the season last week. The Lady Warriors will play Leake Central on Tuesday and Thursday in a region series.

Union baseball won 23-0 and 12-1 over J.Z. George, before falling 16-3 to Lake, to move to 8-5 on the season last week. The Yellow Jackets will take on Choctaw Central on Tuesday and Friday in a region series and will host Newton County on Saturday to round out the week.

Union softball fell 10-8 to Northeast Lauderdale, 16-0 to Enterprise, and 3-2 to Hernando last week, dropping to 8-9 on the season. The Lady Yellow Jackets are scheduled to take on Eupora on Tuesday and Thursday this week.

Philadelphia baseball lost 11-0 and 7-2 to Sebastopol and 13-0 to Noxapater last week, moving to 6-4 on the season. The Tornadoes are scheduled to take on J.Z. George on Tuesday and Thursday and will travel to Quitman on Saturday.

Philadelphia softball fell 15-0 and 20-0 to Eupora last week, dropping to 0-7 on the season. The Lady Tornadoes are scheduled to take on J.Z. George on Tuesday and Thursday in a region series.

Leake Academy swept Wayne Academy in a three-games series, winning 9-8, 6-4, and 14-2. The Rebels now sit at 14-1 on the season and will play Simpson Academy on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday of this week.
