Rockets get swept in regional opening
Baseball and softball teams in the Neshoba County area are in the thick of region play, with many schools looking to solidify a high seed once the postseason comes around.
Neshoba Central baseball was swept by Warren Central in their region opening series, falling to 10-7 on the season. The Rockets will look to get back on track with a region series against Ridgeland on Tuesday and Friday, along with a non-region matchup against Southeast Lauderdale on Thursday.
Neshoba Central softball took a pair of wins over West Lauderdale, but fell 6-2 to Petal, improving to 12-6 on the season. The Lady Rockets host Warren Central on Tuesday and travel to Kosciuscko on Friday.
Choctaw Central baseball split their series with Union last week, winning 6-3 and falling 6-2. The Warriors are now 2-15 on the season and will play Leake Central in a region series on Tuesday and Friday.
Choctaw Central softball picked up a dominant series sweep over Leake Central last week, outscoring their opponent 28-0 in two games. The Lady Warriors are now 11-6 and will play Newton County in a region series on Tuesday and Thursday.
