The Neshoba Central Rockets claimed their first victory of the season on a rainy Friday night at Rocket field as they dominated Forest Hill 51-0 in prep football action.

More importantly, this was a Region 2-5A win. The Rockets stand at 1-0 in the region and 1-2 overall as they host Holmes County Central this Friday night. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.

“Holmes will be a tough test for us,” Coach Patrick Schoolar said. “They are undefeated. They are a big, physical team.”

Charles Stevenson put the Rockets on the scoreboard when he ran 89 yards for a touchdown. John Parker Hancock kicked the extra point and the Rockets led 7-0.

Three plays later, the Rockets recovered a fumble. On the next play, Mehki Gaddis ran 50 yards for a touchdown. Hancock’s kick was good and the Rockets led 14-0.

Neshoba Central forced the punt the and took over on its own 48-yard line. Seven plays later, Gaddis scored on a one-yard run. Hancock kicked the extra point and the Rockets led 21-0.

The Rockets blocked a punt and took over on the Forest Hill two-yard line. Two penalties pushed the Rockets back to the Forest Hill 11-yard line. But on fourth down, quarterback Will Williams connected with Tyrone Collier for a touchdown. The extra point try failed and the Rockets led 27-0 with 10:01 left in the half.

Elijah Ruffin forced a fumble and returned it 15 yards for a touchdown. Hancock’s kick was good and the Rockets led 34-0 with nine minutes remaining in the second quarter.

Later in the quarter, Williams scored on a nine-yard run. The kick was good and the Rockets led 41-0.At the half, the Rockets led 43-0.

Gaddis rushed for 132 yards on 13 carries. Stevenson had four rushes for 89 yards and two catches for 37 yards. Williams completed 3-of-5 passes for 48 yards and one rush for nine yards.
