The Neshoba Central baseball team has advanced to the Class 5A North State baseball series as they swept New Hope over the weekend.

Neshoba Central, now 28-4, defeated New Hope 3-1 in game one and 5-3 in game two.

They will face defending Class 5A state champion Saltillo in the North State championship series.

“They are the defending state champions. They have almost everybody back and they are going to be tough to beat,” said Rockets Coach Jonathan Jones.

Jones was proud of his team in their playoff sweep of New Hope.

“We had good pitching in both games,” Jones said. “They had some good arms. They kept us off balanced but we got some clutch hits. This time of the year, everybody can pitch so you have to take the hits when you can get them.”
