Rockets’ baseball season comes to an end with playoff loss

The Neshoba Central Rockets saw their 2021 baseball season come to an end Saturday as they dropped a 2-1 Class 5A playoff series to Center Hill.

The Mustangs won the first game 5-1 last Thursday. Neshoba Central came back to win game two 8-4 last Friday. Center Hill took the third game 5-4. Neshoba Central ended its season with a 22-9 record.

Center Hill scored all of its runs in the top of the seventh in the first game. Reid Hall took the pitching loss. Rhett Stovall and Cade Hall also pitched.

Center Hill had a 7-5 hitting edge. Jacob Killens had a hit and a RBI while Cade Hall hit double.

The Rockets bounced back to bang out 11 hits in game two and even the series. Neshoba Central scored four in the third, two in the fourth, one in the fifth and one in the sixth. Center Hill scored one in the third, two in the fifth and one in the seventh.

Dagan Martin was the winning pitcher. Jesse Hancock and Cade Hall also pitched.

Reid Hall hit a double and a single, scored run and knocked in another. Killens had three hits, scored three runs and knocked in two more. E.J. Wright had two hits and scored two runs.

Center Hill outhit the Rockets 10-5 in the third game to take the one-run win. Neshoba Central scored two in the second, one in the fifth and one in the seventh. The Mustangs scored one in the firth, one in the third, two in the fourth and one in the sixth.

Cade Hall took the pitching loss in relief of Killens. Wright also pitched.

Ramie Harrison and Bryceton Spencer both hit a double.
