Rockets advance to baseball quarterfinals

As local baseball and softball teams enter the last couple weeks of the season, multiple teams are still deep into their playoff runs and are hoping to bring home a state title.

Neshoba Central baseball is currently in the MHSAA 6A quarterfinals, but dropped game one 2-0 against Saltillo. The Rockets will play game two against Saltillo at home on Tuesday at 4 PM, with results unavailable at print time. Game three, if necessary, will be at Saltillo on Wednesday at 7 PM.

Neshoba Central softball is into the MHSAA 6A semifinals, after taking two out of three from Grenada. The Lady Rockets will face off against South Panola in the semifinal round, with game one set for Wednesday at Neshoba Central at 6 PM.

Choctaw Central softball advanced to the MHSAA 4A semifinals, after picking up a series sweep over Tishomingo County. The Lady Warriors will play the winner of the Itawamba-West Lauderdale quarterfinal series that will conclude on Tuesday.

Union softball saw their season come to an end, falling in a quarterfinal series sweep to East Union. The Lady Yellow Jackets finished the season with a region championship and an 18-12 record.

Leake Academy advanced to the MAIS 5A North championship series, after picking up a series sweep over Lamar School. The Rebels will take on Magnolia Heights in the North Championship series and will look to advance to the MAIS 5A Overall championship series.
