Republican women to host municipal, senate candidates
The Neshoba County Republican Women’s organization will host a meet-and-greet for candidates in the upcoming District 18 Senate race and Republican municipal candidates during their next meeting on Thursday, March 13.
The event will take place at the historic Train Depot at 6 p.m., beginning with a potluck meal provided by the members before candidates take the floor.
Republican municipal candidates expected to attend include mayoral candidate Jim Fulton; Ward 1 candidates Cody Pilgrim and Bert Turcotte; Ward 2 candidates Bill Griffis and Mark Cheatham; Ward 3 candidates Hunter Thrash, Kenneth L. “Kenny” Hillman, Brad Smith, and Phillip Smith; and At-Large candidate incumbent James Waltman.
Candidates for the special election for the District 18 Senate seat expected are Neshoba countians Lane Taylor, Jackson “Ike” Melton, Marty Sistrunk, and Lindsey Kidd, along with Mark Forsman of Winston County.
“We want people to get out and hear what candidates have to say,” said Laura Bailey. “If there’s any questions anybody may have, it will be a great opportunity to ask them.”
Bailey said each candidate will have two to three minutes to introduce themselves, discuss their campaign, and share the changes they hope to bring to Philadelphia.
“I can’t wait to hear new ideas from the new candidates,” Bailey said.
