Leake got back in the game in the third quarter. The spark came on an interception and 24-yard return by Jarod Sims. The Rebels then scored on a 16-yard run by Whitt Welch with 9:27 left in the third. Matthew Nowell kicked the PAT and St. Joseph led 14-7.

The Leake defense then forced a three and out and got a 37-yard punt return from Charlie Brantley. After a big 24-yard completion from Rhett Atkinson to Aiden Watkins, Leake scored on an 11-yard run by Atkinson with 5:59 left in the third. Nowell’s PAT was good and Leake tied the game at 14-14.

The Bruins responded with a 10-play, 79-yard drive and capped it off with a 2-yard run with 3:16 left in the third. The try for two was good and St. Joseph led 22-14.
