Rebels baseball team sweeps 3 district games past Park Place
The Leake Academy Rebels picked up three wins this past week, sweeping district foe Park Place.
Leake took game one on Monday night, winning 10-9 at East Central. The Rebels then completed the sweep, winning 9-8 and 9-4 in Madden on Tuesday.
Leake, now 10-13 on the season, is scheduled to play East Rankin in a three-game series this week with game one at ERA on Tuesday. Game two is set for Thursday in Madden and game three will be Friday at East Rankin.

The Rebels overcame seven errors and held on late to take a one-run win over the Crusaders on Monday at East Central.
Leake scored four in the second and single runs in the third and fifth and trailed 7-6 after five. Leake then scored four in the sixth while Park Place scored two in the seventh for the final margin.
Leake outhit Park Place 11-10 in the contest. Aiden Watkins was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs while Bishop Hardin was 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two RBIs. Whitt Welch was 2-for-3 with a double while Rhett Atkinson scored two runs.
Hardin started on the mound and pitched four innings, giving up four runs on five hits and two walks while striking out seven. John Cross Beckham and Matthew Nowell combined to pitch one inning while Bryce Watkins pitched the last two innings, giving up two unearned runs on three hits and a walk while striking out two.

The Rebels scored in every inning and held on to take a one-run win over the Crusaders in the first game of a doubleheader on Tuesday.
Park Place scored two in the first while Leake scored single runs in the first four innings but trailed 6-4 after four. Leake scored three in the fifth and two in the sixth while Park Place scored single runs in the fifth and sixth.
Each team had 11 hits in the contest as Bishop Hardin was 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs scored while Gunter Scott was 2-for-3. Jake Freeny was 2-for-3 while Charlie Brantley tripled and had three RBIs. Whitt Welch singled and drove in two runs while Kade Marble walked twice and scored two runs.
Aiden Watkins started on the mound and pitched 6 1/3 innings, giving up eight runs, only four earned, on 11 hits and four walks while striking out five. Whitt Welch come in and got the save, getting the last two outs.

The Rebels used a trio of three-run innings and took a five-run win over the Crusaders in the second game of a doubleheader on Tuesday.
Park Place scored one in the first while Leake answered with three in the second. Park Place scored three in the third while Leake finished with three in the fourth and fifth.
Leake outhit Park Place 10-5 in the contest. Bishop Hardin was 3-for-3 with a double, triple and five RBIs. Whitt Welch was 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and two RBIs. Kade Marble also doubled and scored twice.
Welch started on the mound and pitched three innings, giving up four unearned runs on two hits and five walks. John Cross Beckham pitched the last four innings and gave up three hits while striking out three.
