Rebelettes rebound with 3 wins to improve to 20-2

After dropping their second game of the season last week, the Leake Academy girls responded with three blowout wins last week.

The Rebelettes improved to 20-2 on the season as they beat Riverfield 54-11, Winona Christian 62-24 and Delta Academy 69-23.

  

The Rebels split a pair of games as they lost 81-63 to Riverfield but bounced back and took a 66-60 win over Delta.

Leake Academy returns to play this week with a pair of district games. They will travel to Winston Academy on Tuesday and host Simpson on Friday.

Rebelettes 54

Riverfield 11

The Rebelettes dominated the action, taking a 43-point win over the Lady Raiders.

Leake outscored Riverfield in every period. The Rebelettes led 24-4 at the end of the first and 31-7 at the half. Leake continued to roll in the second half and outscored Riverfield 12-4 in the third and 11-0 in the fourth.

Miriam Prince led Leake with 16 points, while Katye Jones had 9 points and five rebounds. Morgan Freeny had 5 points and four steals, while Grace Maxey added 5 points. Ella Bell, Marleigh Myers and Allen Kaye Wilcox each had 4 points apiece.

Riverfield boys 81

On Monday, the Raiders used strong bookend periods to take an 18-point win over the Rebels.

Riverfield jumped out to a 21-11 lead in the first. Leake outscored the Raiders 18-11 and trailed 32-29 at the half. Riverfield outscored Leake 26-22 in the third to extend the lead to 58-51. Riverfield then outscored Leake 23-12 in the fourth to take the win.

Samuel Prince and Jake Freeny each had 17 points apiece, while Whitt Welch had 16 points. Gavin White chipped in five points.

Rebelettes 62

Winona Christian 24

The Rebelettes outscored the Lady Stars in every period and took a 38-point win on Wednesday at the Columbus Christian Christmas Tournament.

Leake led 19-10 at the end of the first before outscoring Winona 18-2 in the second to lead 37-12 at the half. Leake continued to extend its lead and outscored Winona Christian 12-7 in the third and 13-5 in the fourth.

Miriam Prince led Leake with 21 points, seven rebounds and seven assists. Emeri Warren had 12 points and four rebounds, while Grace Maxey also had 12 points. Katye Jones had six points and seven rebounds, while Morgan Freeny had five points. Allen Kaye Wilcox also had seven rebounds and three assists for Leake.

Delta 60

The Rebels overcame another slow start and pulled away to take a 6-point win over the Raiders in the second half.

Delta jumped out to a. 20-9 lead in the first period, but Leake outscored the Raiders 17-8 in the second to cut the lead to 28-26 at the half. Leake then outscored Delta 16-13 in the third to take the lead at 42-41. The Rebels then pulled away in the fourth, outscoring Delta 24-19 to take the win.

Jake Freeny led Leake with 18 points, while Samuel Prince had 16 points. Jack Harkins had 12 points while Gavin White had 9 points.

Rebelettes 69

Delta 23

The Rebelettes outscored the Lady Raiders in every period and cruised to a 46-point win on Thursday in Canton.

Leake jumped out to a 25-5 lead in the first period and outscored Delta 17-7 in the second to lead 42-12 at the half. Leake then outscored Delta 13-2 in the third and 14-9 in the fourth.

In all, 15 Rebelettes scored as Emeri Warren led the way with 10 points, four rebounds and four steals. Morgan Freeny had 9 points, while Olivia Rudolph and Laney Turner each had 7 points. Katye Jones had 6 points and eight rebounds. Raylea Atkinson had 5 points, while Marleigh Myers, Miriam Prince and Miley Billie each had 4 points apiece.
