Rebelettes’ North State reign comes to an end
Leake Academy's string of North State girls championships came to an end last week at Magnolia Heights.
After a 59-17 win over Washington School to open the tournament, the Bayou Academy girls beat Leake 55-40 on Friday. Leake then beat Starkville Academy 52-49 in overtime on Saturday.
The Leake Academy boys season came to an end as they lost to Pillow Academy 72-40 on Wednesday.
The Leake girls move to 32-2 on the season and will play Simpson Academy on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at Hartfield Academy in the first round of the Class AAAA State Tournament.

The Rebelettes opened the Class AAAA North State tournament with a 42-point win over the Lady Generals on Wednesday.
Leake started quick and led 23-2 at the end of the first and 38-4 at the half. Leake started the running clock in the third period, outscoring Washington 15-4 to lead 53-8 going to the fourth.
Leake put four players in double figures as Morgan Freeny had 11 points, seven steals and six rebounds. Ashley Smith also had 11 points while Miriam Prince had 10 points and five steals. Emmi Harkins also had 10 points while Mabry Mayfield had seven points and seven rebounds. Laura Katherine Clair also had five rebounds for the Rebelettes.

The Rebelettes had a season-low in points as they suffered their second loss of the season as the Lady Colts took a 15-point win on Friday in the North AAAA semifinals
The Lady Colts outscored the Rebelettes in three of the four periods to take the win. Bayou led 15-9 at the end of the first and Leake took the second 13-10 as the lady Colts led 25-22 at the half. Bayou continued to extend the lead in the second half, outscoring Leake 15-11 in the third and 15-7 in the fourth to take the win.

Starkville 49
The Rebelettes battled back from a first-half deficit and took an overtime win over the Lady Volunteers on Saturday to finish third in North AAAA.
Starkville led 16-10 in the first and 15-13 in the second to lead 31-23 at the half. Leake Academy fought back in the third, outscoring Starkville 10-6 in the third and 15-11 in the fourth to force overtime. Leake outscored Starkville 4-1 in overtime to take the win.
Ashley Smith led Leake with 17 points and five rebounds while Emeri Warren had 13 points and four rebounds. Emmi Harkins had 12 points while Mabry Mayfield had seven points and eight rebounds.

The Mustangs pulled away in the second period and took a 32-point win to end the Rebels' season on Wednesday.
Pillow led 20-19 at the end of the first and outscored Leake 22-7 in the second to lead 42-21 at the half. Pillow continued to extend its lead in the second half, outscoring Leake 18-10 in the third and 12-9 in the fourth.
Whitt Welch led Leake with 12 points while Henry Dabbs and Hagan Davis each had eight points apiece.
