The Leake Academy girls added two more wins to their season total last week.

The Rebelettes took a pair of blowout wins as they beat Newton 65-38 on Monday at the MLK Classic at East Central Community College. Leake then finished the regular season with a 57-26 win over Wayne.

The Rebels only played once, beating Wayne 58-35 to secure second place in district play.

The Leake girls finish the regular season with a 28-1 mark but will be the No. 2 seed in the District 2-5A Tournament to be hosted by Lamar. After not being able to play the Simpson game on Tuesday, Leake ended up second in district play, despite holding the head-to-head tiebreaker over East Rankin. The Rebelettes will take on the winner of the Simpson and Park Place game on Thursday at 4 p.m.

The Rebels finish the regular season with a 19-6 record and have won seven in a row. The Rebels are also the No. 2 seed and will play in a semifinal game on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.

Leake girls 65, Newton 38

The Rebelettes knocked off another MHSAA school with a 27-point win over the Class 2A Lady Tigers at East Central Community College on Monday.

Leake outscored Newton 18-12 in the first period and then outscored the Lady Tigers 20-8 in the second period to take a 38-20 lead into the half. Leake continued to extend its lead in the third period, outscoring Newton 16-6 to take a commanding 54-26 lead into the fourth period. Newton took the fourth period 12-11 for the final margin.

Sarah Prince led Leake with 18 points, four assists and three rebounds. Codi Breedlove had 11 points  while Jenna Allen had nine points and four rebounds. Kylee Boykin had six points and 11 rebounds while Marleigh Myers had six points and nine rebounds. Anna Morgan Young had six points, five rebounds and four assists.

Leake boys 58, Wayne 35

The Rebels outscored the Jaguars in every period and pulled away to take a 23-point win on Thursday night.

Leake led 13-8 at the end of the first and then outscored Wayne 12-8 in the second to lead 25-16 at the half. Leake continued to extend its lead in the second half and outscored Wayne 16-12 in the third and 17-7 in the fourth to take the win.

Samuel Prince led Leake with 23 points while Eli Cantrell had six points. Matthew Nowell and Gage Warren each had five points.

Leake girls 57, Wayne 26

The Rebelettes started fast in each half and cruised to a 31-point win over the Lady Jaguars on Thursday in the regular-season finale.

Leake jumped out to a 19-2 lead in the first half and then outscored Wayne 17-11 in the second period to lead 36-13 at the half. Leake put the game away in the third period and outscored Wayne 18-5 to take a 54-18 lead into the fourth. Wayne took the fourth period 8-3 with a running clock.

Jenna Allen led Leake with 13 points while Sarah Prince had 12 points. Marleigh Myers had seven points while Anna Morgan Young and Kylee Boykin each had six points apiece. Codi Breedlove also chipped in five points.
