Funeral services for Randy Cheatham were held Friday, July 23, 2021 at 10 a.m. from McClain-Hays Chapel with Dr. Dan Howard and Rev. Mack Alford officiating. Burial followed in Cedarlawn Cemetery. Visitation was held Thursday, July 22, 2021 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Home. McClain-Hays Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Cheatham, 78, of Philadelphia, died Tuesday, July 20, 2021.

Thomas Randolph (Randy) Cheatham, Jr. was born March 2, 1943. He was married to Virginia Pettit Cheatham for 56 years. He worked for Commercial Credit for 10 ½ years before moving back to Philadelphia to work for Perry Construction Company for 3 ½ years and then retired from The Citizens Bank after 38 years as Vice President/ Loan Officer.

Mr. Cheatham was a Neshoba County native and a graduate of Philadelphia High School in 1961 and attended East Central Junior College. He served in the National Guard for 39 years in the 367th Maintenance Company and the 298th Headquarters Unit. He was activated to serve during Desert Storm/Desert Shield at Fort Hood, Texas.

He enjoyed being a handyman at home and the bank, traveling to watch his granddaughter play soccer, and taking trips to the east and west coast after his retirement.  Mr. Cheatham was a member and former deacon at First Baptist Church where he loved being a greeter.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia P. Cheatham; daughter, Jennifer  Bounds; son, Chris Cheatham; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sister-in-law, Dianne Cheatham; several nieces, nephews and their families.

Mr. Cheatham was preceded in death by parents, Randolph and Odie Zell Cheatham; brother, Dwight Cheatham.

In lieu of flowers family requests memorials be made to Gideons International, First Baptist Church or the charity of your choice.
