Police make arrest in downtown auto burglary
The Philadelphia Police Department has arrested and charged a local man in connection with an auto burglary on Center Avenue in mid-March.
Philadelphia Police Detective Bobby Pattillo said that Nicholas Catchings of Philadelphia has been arrested and charged with auto burglary. He said the case has been forwarded to the District Attorney's office for consideration by the next Grand Jury.
“The Philadelphia Police Department would like to thank the public and everyone who offered tips that led to the apprehension of the suspect involved in an auto burglary on Center Avenue the night of 3-13-21,” Pattillo said.
Pattillo said that Catchings was identified and caught after he was caught on surveillance cameras that night rummaging through a vehicle on Center Avenue around 9:53 p.m. He said they also received some public assistance in the investigation.
Catchings nabbed two purses from the victim's car that were later recovered. Some cash and credit cards were taken, Pattillo said.
The victim was in Marty’s Blues Cafe on Beacon Street during the burglary that evening.
Pattillo said that when the victim left the bar, she noticed that her vehicle had been burglarized.
