Police are looking for a suspect in a shooting reported Sunday evening on St. Francis Drive which sent two victims with non-life-threatening injuries to a Jackson hospital.

Philadelphia Police Chief Eric Lyons identified Chavis Davis as the alleged shooter based on witness testimony. Lyons said Davis was on probation, though he is not sure on the exact charges Davis was in for.

“Davis has yet to be found as officers continue to work this case,” Lyons said. “If anyone has any info on Davis we would appreciate it.”

Lyons said Tuesday that officers had not successfully located Davis but have made contact with his probation officer. He said Davis is approximately 29 years old.

On Sunday, May 8, at approximately 3 a.m. PPD officers responded to the area of Hillcrest Apartments at 105 St. Francis Drive where there were reports of shots fired in that area, Lyons said.

Officers responded and arrived on scene and were advised that two people had been shot and were en route to the ER by personal vehicle.

Officers went to Neshoba General and made contact with the two victims one male and one female. Lyons said officers discovered both were shot with non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to University Mississippi Medical Center for further treatment.

Lyons said both victims and some witnesses identified Davis as the shooter.

Anyone with information related to Davis or any other potential crime is encouraged to call the Philadelphia Police Department at 601-656-2131.
