A fundraising event for Philadelphia Elementary will feature food and music for the whole family, organizers say.

A Taste of Philly will be held on Saturday, April 29, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Philadelphia Elementary, 406 Stribling Street. The event is hosted by the Philadelphia Elementary PTO and is free to the public, according to organizers.

Jesette Rush, PES PTO treasurer and organizer of the event, said this fundraiser is an opportunity to give back to the students and faculty.

“We thought this would be something fun to get the shcool and the community together,” Rush said. “We wanted to give the kids something fun to close out the school year.”

The event will feature four food trucks and other vendors as well as face painting and games.

Music and other performances and appearances are expected from Topher, Prince Marc Jakob, DJ Birdman, the Philly Dancerettes, the Goodway Praise Dancers, Philadelphia Parish Praise Team, Philly Choir, Philly Band and Canton Dancers.

“Our event will be a fun-filled day for the entire family to enjoy, all while supporting a great cause,’ a social media post from the PTO says.

Rush said they were not able to do their annual fall festival this year and wanted to make sure they held an event for the kids.
