Philadelphia Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Lisa Hull is retiring, it was announced.

Dr. Hull informed the School Board during their meeting Thursday. Her final day will be June 30.

Dr. Hull has been with the district since July 1, 2014. She said she has enjoyed her time with the students, teachers and staff.

“It was time,” Dr. Hull said. “I wanted the board to have plenty of time to find a good person who will be a good fit for this district.”

She added she needed more time to take care of her mother who has been sick. If something were to come up, she needed to be available and didn’t feel she could take time away in her job as superintendent.

Dr. Hull has 38 ½ years in the state retirement system. She said she does not have any plans at this time.

“This has been a wonderful career, she said. “If I had it to do over, I wouldn’t change a thing.”
