The Philadelphia Public School District is holding a Back-to-School Supply Drive this week and a party in the Philadelphia High School cafeteria on Aug. 7.

Mary Rush, a stakeholder in the Philadelphia Public School District, said they are aiming to help students as much as possible and hope everyone will help out and participate in the supply drive.

“The new superintendent, Shannon Whitehead, has a lot of fun ideas for the district and this is one of them,” Rush said. “This is the first drive I’ve been a part of, and we want to thank everyone in advance for donating.”

The district is looking for supplies such as pencils, masks, sharpies, pens, colored pencils, markers, highlighters, paper, composition books, glue, tape, crayons, binders, folders, backpacks, erasers, notebooks, and dividers.

The drive began on July 22 and ends on Aug. 4.

Rush said the district is also holding a back-to-school party on Aug. 7, and all students in the Philadelphia Public School district are invited.

“We are encouraging all students to come to the party,” Rush said. “There will be school supplies and food, while supplies last, and music in the Philadelphia High School Cafeteria. It starts at 2 p.m. and lasts through the afternoon.”
