A Philadelphia man remains in jail suspected in a late May rape case, the authorities said.

Michael Lee Bryant, 29, 11633 Road 383, was arrested and charged with rape-assault with intent to ravish.

Philadelphia Police Det. Bobby Pattillo said officials cannot comment on an ongoing sexual assault case.

“With sexual assault cases we don’t release any info in order to protect the privacy of the victim,” Pattillo said.

Jail records show Bryant was arrested by Philadelphia Police on May 31. On June 7 he was transferred to the Neshoba County Detention Center. Pattillo said that Bryant was arrested the day after the crime was reported and he was determined after investigation to be a suspect.

Sheriff Eric Clark said he does not know any details of the case but said that Bryant became their responsibility to house when his case went to a grand jury.
