Philadelphia High hosts 'Signing Day'
Philadelphia High School recently celebrated the athletic achievements of three outstanding students during its College Signing Day event.
The ceremony, held at the school’s auditorium on Feb. 5, recognized the dedication and hard work of these exceptional students as they take the next step in their athletic and academic journeys at the collegiate level.
Dylan Graham, Bernard Parker, and Christopher Rush each signed National Letters of Intent to continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level, marking a significant milestone in their academic and athletic pursuits.
Graham is set to study and compete at Millsaps College, Parker at Jones Community Junior College, and Rush at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.
“We are incredibly proud of these students and their accomplishments,” said Philadelphia High School Principal Sherell Drake. “Today’s ceremony is a testament to their hard work, perseverance, and the strong support they’ve received from our teachers, coaches, and families. We are excited to watch them succeed in both their athletic and academic careers.”
Superintendent of Education Dr. Shannon Whitehead also offered her congratulations. “This is an exciting moment for these students, their families, and our entire school community,” Whitehead said. “We are proud to support these student-athletes as they pursue their dreams at the collegiate level. It’s a reflection of the hard work and determination that our students display every day.”
The College Signing Day event underscored the importance of academic excellence alongside athletic achievement, and Philadelphia High School continues to encourage its students to excel in all aspects of their education.
