Philadelphia basketball teams look to rebound

It was a tough week for the Philadelphia Tornado teams as both went 0-2 in prep basketball action.

The Philadelphia Tornadoes dropped a 67-49 decision to Newton Tigers and then fell 61-58 to East Webster on Saturday.

The Lady Tornadoes dropped a 59-46 decision to Newton High School and a 52-47loss to East Webster.

Against Newton High, the Tornadoes trailed 34-21 at the half and could not catch up. Devontae Scott led the Tornadoes with 20 points while Andrew Carter scored 13 points.

East Webster slipped past the Tornadoes in the final minute of the game, Scott led with 14 points while Austin Donald scored 11 points and Boogie Williams scored 10 points.

Zharia Leflore scored 13 points to lead the Lady Tornadoes in their loss to Newton. Jaenasha Clemons put in nine points.

Leflore scored 16 points against East Webster to lead the Lady Tornadoes, Clemons scored 14 and Markasia Dupree put in nine points.

Philadelphia was to host Union on Tuesday and host Scott Central on Friday.
