Pair arrested for shoplifting
Two men were arrested after allegedly shoplifting almost $2,000 of merchandise from Walmart over the weekend.
The suspects have been identified as Larry Keith Scott, 40, of Meridian, and Mario Craig, 29, of Toomsuba, according to Philadelphia Police Chief Eric Lyons.
Both men have been charged with felony shoplifting, he said.
Philadelphia Police responded to Walmart in reference to a report of shoplifting at about 6 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 12.
“Officers were advised that two black males left the store in a black car,” Lyons said.
Officers arrived on the scene and observed the vehicle leaving at a high rate of speed as it turned onto Main Street from Lewis Avenue.
Lyons said officers finally got the vehicle stopped near Deals at the intersection of Main Street and Holland Avenue.
Officers made contact with both individuals inside the vehicle and observed the merchandise stolen from Walmart. Lyons said that about $1,800 worth of merchandise was recovered and returned to Walmart.
