Overnight road work begins Sunday on Beacon and Main
The city is entering its next phase of construction improvements, with overnight road work scheduled to begin on Beacon Street and Main Street on Sunday, June 22, from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
The overnight schedule is intended to reduce daytime disruptions. City officials urge residents to drive with caution if traveling during those hours.
Drivers are asked to watch for workers and equipment, expect lane closures, and avoid blocking intersections during periods of backed-up traffic.
“Thank you for your continued patience and support as we improve our roads and infrastructure for a growing Philadelphia,” said Alderman-at-Large James Carson Waltman.
Waltman said milling work will begin near First Methodist Church on the east side of town, moving down Beacon Street before looping back through the west side by the bypass and continuing back up Main Street.
Milling will also occur on the cut-through streets between Beacon and Main near the courthouse, including Byrd, Center, Church and Pecan Avenues. Crews will return to apply a new asphalt overlay.
