A man and woman wanted in connection with damaging a gas pump earlier this month at conveniene store on Highway 16 west will avoid charges after they agreed to pay for the damage, Police Chief Eric Lyons said.

According to the police, the incident happened on Jan. 6, at the Valero on Highway 16 next to Bumpers.

Police initially used social media to inquire about the accident and included pictures of the man and woman who arrived in a truck described as a white, older model Chevy truck. They had backed in causing “major damage” to a gas pump, officials said.

Lyons said that the man and woman were later identified and talked to officers at the police department. No charges have been filed at this time as the individuals responsible are expected to pay for damages after the owner of the station gets estimates of the damage.

Police have not publicly identified either individual at this time as they have not been charged.
