Neshoba County’s unemployment rate in October stood at 6.9 percent, the same as the previous month according to numbers from the Mississippi Employment Security Commission.

The unemployment rate stood at 6.0 percent in October 2019.

This was an improvement from earlier this year during the shutdown caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Neshoba County’s unemployment rate reached 16.2 percent in April and 14 percent in May.

Neshoba County’s labor force in October stood at 9,830 in October, down 280 from the previous month. Of that, 680 were out of work.

The unemployment rate for nearby counties is Lauderdale (6.8), Kemper (9.2), Noxubee (11.8), Newton (6.3), Winston (8.1), Scott (5.5), Leake (6.7(, and Attala (7.8). 

The state’s not seasonally adjusted rate is 7.0 percent.
