Neshoba circuit court session begins this week with pleas
Circuit Court will be in session Wednesday and Thursday at the Neshoba County Courthouse as defendants will enter their pleas before the judge.
Judge Mark Duncan will hear pleas on Wednesday and Judge Brian Burns will hear pleas on Thursday. Court starts at 9 a.m. both days.
“Each judge will have a plea day and it’s actually two sides of the docket,” District Attorney Steven Kilgore said. “We have made plea offers to everyone.”
Kilgore said it’s each defendant’s decision to accept a plea bargain or take their case to trial. Each person is considered innocent until proven guilty.
“You really don’t know how many are going to plea until you get there,” Kilgore said. “We are hoping to have many pleas.”
Neshoba County is part of District 8 in the Circuit Court system, along with Newton, Scott and Leake counties.
Neshoba and Scott counties will hold two terms of court during the months of October and November.
