Thousands of band students will converge on Neshoba Central High School on Saturday to compete in the Mississippi High School Activities Association Region 3 Marching Evaluation.

"We expect over 2,000 band students to be in attendance," said Daniel Wade, Neshoba Central band director of the event to be held from 8:45 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, at Rocket Stadium.

Approximately 30 high school bands from 20 surrounding counties will participate in the MHSAA evaluation.

Following the MHSAA event, 11 bands will compete into the night in the Rocket Invitation Marching Championship from 7:15 p.m. until 10 p.m., Wade said.

"This will consist of 11 bands battling it out to see who is the best band of the day," Wade said.

The Neshoba Central band parent organization is hosting and coordinating the event, Wade said.

Tickets are $8 for the MHSAA Regional Evaluation and $5 for the Rocket Invitational and can be purchased at Rocket Stadium upon arrival, Wade said.

"This will be a great day for the marching band and the students," Wade said.
