Neshoba Central sweeps pair from NE Lauderdale

The Neshoba Central basketball teams swept a pair of games from Northeast Lauderdale Friday night in their only action of the week.

The Neshoba Central Lady Rockets picked up their fourth win of the season with a 55-52 victory, while the Rockets blew past the Trojans 72-45.

Neshoba Central was to visit Hattiesburg Tuesday. Afterwards, both teams will be off for the Christmas holidays.

The Lady Rockets jumped out to a 12-6 lead after the first quarter. Northeast Lauderdale came back in the second quarter, outscoring the Lady Rockets 19-11. At the half, Northeast Lauderdale held a 25-23 lead.

Neshoba Central retook control of the game in the third quarter. They outscored the Lady Trojans 18-7 and carried a 41-32 lead in the final quarter. Northeast Lauderdale came back strong in the final quarter, outscoring the Lady Rockets 20-14. But Neshoba Central held on for the victory.

Hama'ya Fielder led the Lady Rockets with 18 points while Shay Hunter scored 13.

Neshoba Central proved too strong for the visiting Northeast Lauderdale Trojans as they took a victory and improved to 7-2 on the season.

Leading 16-12 after the first quarter, Neshoba Central outscored the Trojans 18-12 in the second period to carry a 34-12 lead in at halftime. Neshoba Central would outscore Northeast Lauderdale 38-21 in the second half.

Coby McMillan led the Rockets with 22 points. Bryceton Spencer added 12 points and Jacob McMillan scored 10.
