Multiple felony arrests and more than a dozen DUIs and other citations were issued by Neshoba County Sheriff’s deputies over the New Year’s Eve weekend.

Among the felony arrests, according to Neshoba County Sheriff Eric Clark, were:

• Patrick Barnett, 31, of 401 Lewis Avenue was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana in the vehicle, possession of paraphernalia, no insurance and failure to signal a lane change.

He received a bond of $2,700 and remains in the Neshoba County Detention Center.

• Matthew Robert Beard, 40, of 10306 Road 1327 was arrested and charged with resisting arrest, possession of paraphernalia, false ID information and disorderly conduct early on Monday morning. He faces a $3,800 bond.

Barnett was picked up during a traffic stop just before midnight on New Year’s Day and was booked into the jail around 12:45 a.m. on Jan. 2, said Clark.

Beard was arrested at a residence on County Road 1327 on the morning of Monday, Jan. 4.

Clark said deputies were investigating a report of a stolen truck on the property when Beard fled through the woods.

Clark said that Beard was “generally disorderly” during the entire interaction with deputies before they were able to bring him in.

Clark said that the weekend produced another potential felony arrest though he was awaiting crime lab results to before announcing any further information.

Clark said that his office had a busy weekend largely stemming from traffic stops and DUI checkpoints throughout the county.

He said that DUI Officer William Anderson and Deputies Julian Willis and Hunter Ramsey gave out 14 traffic citations and DUIs between Dec. 31 and Jan. 4.
