A minor accident involving a Neshoba County School bus and two other vehicles last week that sent two to the hospital remains under investigation, according to the Mississippi Highway Patrol.

A student and the driver of one of the vehicles were taken to the hospital with minor injuries in the accident last Wednesday morning.

“The case remains under investigation,” Mississippi Highway Patrol Spokesperson Andy West said Monday morning about the accident on Highway 16 east of town.

Neshoba County School’s Superintendent of Education Dr. Lundy Brantley said that the students on the bus were grades K through 12. There were no serious injuries and that parents were promptly contacted.

“The NCSD is very thankful there were no serious injuries in the bus accident this morning,” Brantley said. “One student was transported to the hospital and has since been released. Parents of the students on board were contacted. The bus was able to continue to the school.”

West said that the passenger vehicle and a Chevy Silverado were traveling westbound on Highway 16 east behind the school bus at about 7 a.m. He said the school bus had about 20 passengers including the driver.

The Silverado pickup left the roadway and struck the passenger vehicle and the rear end of the school bus upon attempting to return to the roadway.

A student on the bus was transported by ambulance to Neshoba General with non-life-threatening injuries and that the driver of the pickup was also transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. West said that the driver was transported in a personal vehicle.

West said that the bus was able to continue on to the school after the incident. Neshoba County Sheriff’s deputies also assisted in the matter.
