Minor injuries reported in wreck closing down Beacon
An overturned truck blocked Beacon Street for about half an hour after two vehicles collided in front of Tootie’s Country Buffet on Friday evening.
The wreck happened at about 5:40 p.m. on Friday, June 27, when a truck and SUV collided.
Police Chief Eric Lyons said investigators believe the truck was attempting to make a left turn from the right lane off of Beacon Street onto McKay Avenue when the wreck happened.
Due to conflicting eyewitness accounts, Lyons said Philadelphia Police are still investigating the incident.
Only minor injuries have been reported, Lyons said. The driver of the truck had gotten out unharmed with help from patrons at Tootie’s, who saw the wreck happen.
According to Lyons, the roadway on Beacon Street was blocked for about 30 minutes. Officers detoured traffic onto Myrtle Street while the roadway was blocked.
